Isabelle Mish, Sophia Brown, and Quinn Dixon are no strangers to the spotlight. Over the past three years, the talented thespians have been involved in a collective total of nine Saint Peter High School theater productions. Now in their senior years, the actors are taking on their most challenging – and exciting – roles yet.
(PICTURED ABOVE) SPHS seniors (l to r) Sophia Brown, Quinn Dixon, and Isabelle Mish have three of the key roles in the fall musical production of 'The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy' which begins this Thursday on the Performing Arts Center stage.
Opening Thursday, November 21, the High School’s production of “The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy” is certain to enthrall audiences of all ages.
So, before the curtains close on their impressive high school theater careers, the district communications team sat down with the actors to reflect on their time within the program.
Isabelle Mish
For senior Isabelle Mish, the Saint Peter High School theater department has been a “second home.” The Addams Family will be Mish’s tenth production with the program. Her character, Alice Beineke, is a drastic departure from her previous roles.
“My character definitely has a crazy side, which has been so fun to explore. Most of my other roles have been princesses, so it’s fun to completely switch things up and challenge myself,” Mish notes.
This production is especially meaningful to the seasoned performer, who will be joined on stage by her younger sister, Olivia. “I’m so excited to experience this all with her,” remarks Mish.
The sisters will join a cast and crew of talented Saint Peter High School students, who have spent countless hours rehearsing and preparing for a marvelous show. Misch notes that it would all be for naught without the support of directors Bri Bergstrom, Robbie Dearing, and Scott Robinson: “They have put so much time, energy, and love into this show and we couldn’t have asked for a better support system," she said.
Sophia Brown
After tackling complex and endearing roles in “Mamma Mia,” “Shrek,” and “Into the Woods,” Senior Sophia Brown will explore a more sinister character this year. The young actress plays Morticia– the Addams Family matriarch and a source of some of the play’s most humorous moments. “The show is sure to get a lot of laughs,” says Brown, who cites the play’s humor and collaborative nature as the most rewarding outcomes.
“There are so many amazing people involved in this show, like the cast, stage crew, lights and sounds team, set construction team, and more” Brown shares. “It’s amazing to see all our hard work come together in the end!”
For Brown and her castmates, this collaboration is most evident in the vibrant opening act. Says Brown, “Everyone is on the stage singing and dancing. The choreography is so amazing and fun to do!”
Quinn Dixon
Last, but not least is the wonderful Quinn Dixon, who is looking forward to performing with his equally talented classmates. The senior will take on the role of Gomez Addams, who Dixon says is “very fun” to play.
When he reflects on his theater career, one thing in particular stands out to Dixon; “I’ve loved being able to create a connection with my peers in the show. It has been really rewarding to perform with such talented people.”
Dixon, along with his castmates Isabelle Misch and Sophia Brown, will take the stage on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. for the opening performance of “The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy!”
