Students get to meet the author of the new children’s book, ‘The Kindness Booth’
South Elementary first graders had a meet and greet Thursday morning with Laura Murray, author of one of Capstone’s newest children’s books, The Kindness Booth. Each first-grade student also received a paperback copy of the book, which Murray read out loud to the students.
Released in January through Capstone, The Kindness Booth children's book is part of Greater Mankato Area United Way's early learning and literacy initiative. The book follows a group of friends who set out to make the day brighter for their neighborhood through acts of kindness.
Geared toward grades PreK-2, The Kindness Booth was written by Murray, who is the Greater Mankato Area United Way Director of Operations & Communication, and illustrated by Italy-based Andrea Boatta.
As part of the initiative, Capstone is donating paperback copies of the book for Greater Mankato Area United Way to distribute to area schools, including to the first graders at South. Additional support provided by Lime Valley Advertising, Navitor Specialty Products, and the Olseth Family Foundation.
Those on hand for the South Elementary event representing the Greater Mankato Area United Way included Murray, Karli Swearingen (office & programming manager), and Emily Schanbacher (marketing coordinator). Capstone reps on hand included Nick Sykora (distribution sales director) and Jana Klein (regional sales manager).
