Students in Mrs. Koepp’s second grade class at North Elementary took part in a Poetry Slam event, held at the North media center over two days this week (Tuesday and Thursday). 

“I've never done this poetry slam before, but I read on a poster that April is Poetry Month so we just did it,” Mrs. Koepp said. “Even the shy students were so excited to read their poem aloud, (and it turned out so well) that I’m going to do this every April. 

“The students got to select from a variety of short "pocket poems" (a poem that could fit into our pocket) and we practiced reading them aloud all week. Mr. Nick (Rozsa) in the library deserves a HUGE shout out too because I ran the idea past him and he said we could use the school's microphone. He added the podium and fireplace.”
