Jana Sykora

South Elementary Principal Jana Sykora will take over that role permanently moving forward in a move that was approved by the Saint Peter School Board at their regular meeting on Monday evening. Sykora had been serving in an interim capacity this year but Saint Peter Superintendent Jeff Olson recommended to the school board that she take over that position on a permanent basis.

“Since stepping into the role of interim principal, Jana has demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and a commitment to the students, staff and families of South Elementary,” Dr. Olson said. “The decision to make this recommendation is based on an outstanding evaluation of performance.”

“I am confident she will continue to guide South Elementary in meeting the needs of all students academically, socially and emotionally,” Dr. Olson added.

Sykora has worked in some capacity at Saint Peter Public Schools since the fall of 2016. Sykora began her career at SPPS as the school counselor at Saint Peter High School and held that role for five years. She then transitioned to SPPS’s Principal for alternative programs at Rock Bend ALC, Oshawa Learning Academy, and for SPHS’s night and summer school programs. She will still serve as principal at Oshawa Learning Academy in addition to her duties at South Elementary.
