North Elementary’s ‘Sponsor a Hammock’ program for its recently installed hammock forest is progressing nicely and the program has already been a big hit with 15 hammocks having been purchased and donated for the cause but there’s always need for more. See the accompanying flyer above for more details, including a QR code on how to sponsor a hammock!
North’s hammock forest was installed in the courtyard (where the picnic tables are), and when the weather is nice students and community members will be able to check out the hammocks from the media center to hang in the forest and use them to read and relax. The hammock forest was an idea created when parents of students in Darren Johnson’s homeroom wanted to make a memorial project after his passing. The hammock forest part of the project was funded through donations from Mr. Johnson’s students’ families.
Below are some photos of the hammocks that families/groups have donated to North for their hammock forest project.
