Saint Peter Public Schools welcomes Christian Juantos as our newest cultural liaison and will work with our Latino students at Saint Peter High School (gr. 9-12) and North Elementary (gr. 2-4). Juantos, who began her duties the previous week, replaces Liliana Figueroa who moved on last fall to take the Community Services Office position with the St. Peter Police Department.
“I’m very excited about working here with our Latino students at Saint Peter High School and North Elementary,” Juantos said. “I want them to look at me as a resource who can assist them when needed, and also help out staff with any language barriers that may arise with our students and their families.”
Juantos, who has three children in the SPPS system, resides in St. Peter and attend classes from first through seventh grade here. Prior to joining SPPS, she worked as a Spanish interpreter for Mayo Health Systems (2 years) and LanguageLine Solutions (1½ years). A 2011 graduate of Le Sueur-Henderson High School, Juantos also attended classes at Bethany Lutheran College.
She is joining the three other cultural liaisons with the SPPS Office of Education Equity – Maripsa Romero (Latino students & families at Saint Peter Middle School and South Elementary), Buraq Ahmed (Somali students & families district-wide), and Charmayne Klah (Indigenous students & families district-wide).
