South Elementary kindergarten students in Mrs. Powell’s class and first graders in Mrs. Minks’ class took part in an Arbor Day tree-planting event at Stones Park in St. Peter the morning of Friday, April 25.
St. Peter City Forester Jacob Burbach was on hand to share tree-planting tips with the students and show them all the tools he uses when planting young trees. He then planted a tulip poplar in Stones Park in a pre-dug hole, and gave the students an opportunity to help shovel dirt back into the hole around the newly-planted tree.
