The Children's Theatre group from the Minnesota State University-Mankato's Department of Theatre & Dance presented the play, "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" for the South Elementary students and staff in the gym on Thursday morning. Here are some photo highlights from the fun and educational show!
Per the MSU Theater Department, the following is a description of “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” – “Rory Monroe is an elementary school student who idolizes Blast-O-Girl, a superhero from the movies and comic books. After winning a 'meet and greet' with Blast-O-Girl, Rory begins to inadvertently hurt her classmates' feelings by boasting about how she gets to meet the renowned superhero. However, upon meeting Blast-O-Girl, Rory realizes that although it is fun to watch superheroes on the screen or read about them in the comics, the 'real' superheroes in life can be found all around us! Rory learns that her parents and teachers are superheroes, as well as her community's healthcare workers, firemen, and more. In fact, ANYONE can be a superhero by just being accepting, kind, and caring to those around them. After all, "Not All Heroes Wear Capes!"
The South students were a captive audience and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. At the conclusion of the play they even got the chance to learn the actors’ dance moves from the production and also participate in a Q&A session with them!
