This year marks the 30th year that Saint Peter High School's Building Trades class will be involved with the construction of a house for Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota. SPHS students are under the guidance of SPHS instructor Scott Robinson during this project.
During the past week, students were involved in the foundation work, including installing the concrete forms and pouring the concrete into the forms.
”The collaboration between Habitat for Humanity and the SPHS Building Trades class allows our Building Trades seniors to get hands-on building experience and an opportunity to participate in a project that has a lifelong impact on a Habitat family and the community,” Robinson said. “It is fun watching students learning about the construction industry in the classroom and then being able to head right out to the build site to put that knowledge to work. They find out fast what they like about different aspects of these careers
“If it is not raining and the feel-like temp is over 10 degrees, we are outside the building. I’m really hoping for another mild winter”
Here are some photos of the foundation work that took place on Thursday, Sept. 26.
