Saint Peter High School's cheerleading program's varsity competition squad is in its first year at the competitive level and has had some success already this school year, including winning their division recently at Champlin Park.

The following is a recap from Saints' head coach Tasha Timmerman on their Champlin Park event:
"On Saturday (December 7th), the SPHS Varsity Competition Cheerleaders showcased their hard work at the 2024 Candy Candy Classic in Champlin Park. Competing in the Varsity Traditional Non-Tumbling All-Girl Division, they faced off against Southwest High School and Roseville, scoring an impressive 75 out of 100. This achievement earned them 1st place in their division and 3rd overall in Traditional, with Coon Rapids and Anoka Co-Ed Teams taking 1st and 2nd, respectively.
This team, which has seen a reduction from 19 to 9 dedicated girls, has put in countless hours of vigorous practice over the past month and a half. Their commitment has resulted in a technically sound and clean routine that truly reflects their determination. They will now enjoy a well-deserved break over Winter Break, returning to practice on January 6, 2025, to prepare for their final three competitions of the year.
Mark your calendars for their next performance at White Bear Lake on January 18, followed by Maple Grove on January 26, and concluding with the State competition on February 1 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. Additionally, we are excited to share that six of our girls have been selected by coaches to audition for the All-State Team.
The team members competing this past Saturday included: senior flyer and captain Rhylea Boswell, junior side base and captain Jillayne Mclean, junior flyer Danely Bocanegra, junior main base Cecily Jacobs, junior backspot Lila Klause, junior backspot Ceejae Marroquin, junior flyer Bianca Salivia, sophomore main base Genesis Castro, and sophomore side base Eva Erickson. They are coached by head coach Tasha Timmerman and assistant coaches Maria Figueroa and Karen Soderlund."
Congrats to the Saints on their impressive performance!
